A Saranda taxi to Ksamil can cost you €10 or €35 for the same 14 km, and both prices are real. One is a fixed fare a local firm publishes, the other is what a ride-hailing app estimates in high season, and the street drivers outside the port sit somewhere in between, depending on the month, the hour and whether you agreed the price before the door closed. Bolt and Uber, the apps most visitors reach for first, aren't part of the picture at all.
So the useful thing is not one number. It is the range for each run, who publishes what, and when a 100-lek bus does the same job. We collected the published fares from two operators and two travel guides, checked Bolt's own city list on 10 October 2026, and confirmed every taxi firm named below against its Google Maps listing in Saranda or Ksamil.

How to read it: the fixed-fare column is the floor, the app estimate is the ceiling, and a street taxi in July lands closer to the ceiling unless you name a price first. Outside June to September, drivers are quieter and easier to bring down.
How to get a taxi in Saranda
- Ranks and the port. Most of the taxi firms we found on Google Maps are based along Rruga Butrinti and Rruga Mitat Hoxha, the two streets that run along the seafront and past the ferry terminal. Off the Corfu boat, you will find drivers waiting.
- Phone or WhatsApp. Every firm below lists a mobile number on its Maps listing, and two have websites; Taxi Eri takes bookings on WhatsApp. For an early bus, a ferry or an airport run, book the evening before.
- Your hotel. Guesthouses call drivers they know. This is the easiest way to get a fair price without negotiating.
- Agree the fare first. Few Saranda taxis run a meter on out-of-town trips. Say the destination and the price, in lek or euros, before you get in. Taksi Hermanos advertises "no meters that climb" and fixed prices, which tells you how the rest of the market works.
Bolt, Uber and the apps that do work
Bolt does not operate in Albania. Its own city list, checked on 10 October 2026, has no Albanian city, and Uber has never launched here either. The local apps fill the gap: Clust, Patoko and Vrapon all list Saranda in their coverage, with wait times that can stretch to 10–20 minutes in season. App coverage in Ksamil is thin, so most people there use street taxis or the bus.

Taxi, bus or boat to Ksamil
The 14 km to Ksamil is the run most visitors take, and the taxi only wins in a few cases. The municipal bus costs 150–200 lek and runs roughly hourly, on the half hour, until 18:30 from Saranda. A taxi earns its fare when you are three or four splitting it, when you have luggage, or after the evening buses thin out. For Butrint, the same logic holds: bus by day, taxi if you miss the last bus. Times are in the Saranda to Butrint guide. Long runs: Tirana airport and Himara
From Tirana airport to Saranda, the published fixed fares start at €150 for a sedan (Taksi Hermanos), and Patoko estimates about €220. Taxis in Gjirokastër and Berat
Gjirokastër. Google Maps shows at least eight taxi listings clustered in the lower, modern town, which is where you'll find a driver for the climb up to the old bazaar. Of the apps, Patoko and Vrapon list Gjirokastër in their coverage. For a ride in from the coast, Taksi Hermanos publishes €50 Saranda–Gjirokastër for a sedan and Patoko estimates about €60. Berat. Berat's taxis work the same way: call, or have your guesthouse call, and agree the price first. Vrapon lists Berat in its coverage, while Clust does not.
