Saranda Sunbed & Beach Club Prices 2026

Saranda is the cheapest place on this stretch of coast to put a lounger under yourself, which is a low bar it clears mostly by not having beaches worth charging much for. That is the honest framing, and it is also why the question of what to pay here is a slightly different one than in Ksamil: the real decision is not which row but whether to bother at all.

Here is what things cost, what the different pricing models mean, and where the money is better spent.

What you'll pay

Where Two loungers + umbrella Notes
Town beaches, peak 1,000-2,000 ALL (€9-17) Narrow, busy, directly on the promenade road
Town beaches, shoulder Lower, negotiable Mid-September onward
Beach clubs / lidos Higher, often minimum spend Better facilities, food and drink included in the deal
Manastiri cove Varies, limited setup The best in-town swim
Public stretches Free Bring a towel

Roughly 1,000-2,000 lek for a peak-season set on a town beach is the number to hold in your head, meaningfully below Ksamil's 2,000-3,000, and below the Riviera beach clubs up the coast.

The two pricing models

Understanding which one you are being offered prevents most of the confusion on Albanian beaches.

Flat fee. You pay for the beds and the umbrella, then buy food and drink separately if you want it. Straightforward, and what most of Saranda's town-beach operators do.

Minimum spend. The beds are cheap or free provided you order enough at the bar or kitchen. Common at the beach clubs and the better-equipped lidos. If you were going to eat lunch and drink there anyway, this is frequently the best value on the beach. If you weren't, it is a fee wearing a disguise.

Ask which one you are being quoted before you sit down. This single question prevents nearly every bad beach experience in Albania.

The honest advice: Saranda's beaches aren't the point

The town beaches are narrow, coarse, backed immediately by the promenade road, and busy from mid-morning through July and August. Paying 2,000 lek to lie on one is not obviously good value however cheap it is relative to Ksamil.

Three better uses of the same money:

A boat day, €30-50. The trip south to Krorez and Kakome reaches large clear bays with no road access, which are genuinely empty in August. It is the best money spent on a beach in Saranda by a wide margin, see Saranda boat tours.

The bus to Ksamil, 150-200 lek. Twenty to thirty minutes to the best sand in Albania. Even paying Ksamil's higher sunbed rate on top, the total is better value than a town-beach day here.

Manastiri cove, free or cheap. The quiet swim actually inside Saranda, and the best water in town.

Our Saranda beaches guide ranks them properly, and things to do in Saranda puts the beach question in the context of everything else.

Where the beach clubs are

Saranda's beach clubs are not on the central promenade, which is mostly hotel-run sunbeds. They sit at the two ends of the bay. South along the road to Ksamil and Butrint are Maestral Beach Bar, Secret Beach, VIP Beach and the neighbouring Mango and Flamingo beach clubs, 1.4-2.7 km from the centre. West of town are Naluū and the Pegasus Beach Bar & Club, 2-4 km out. All of them use the two pricing models above, and the bigger clubs lean towards the minimum spend. Our Saranda beaches guide maps them with the rest of the named beaches, and the Saranda nightlife guide covers the clubs after dark.

Where to swim for nothing

Albanian beaches are not wholly privatised, and Saranda has more genuinely free shoreline than the resort villages do. The free vs paid beaches guide covers the legal position; in practice:

  • Public stretches between concessions on the town beaches, narrower and less comfortable, but free and legal.
  • Saranda Municipality Public Beach, the stretch of promenade beach south-east of the centre that the town keeps free of rental loungers.
  • Manastiri cove, about 7 km south, where the setup is limited; access to the shore has been disputed since 2024, so check first.
  • Early and late. Before 09:00 and after about 17:00, most of the beach is not actively being sold.

Seasonality

Prices in Saranda track the coast's usual curve, though with less amplitude than Ksamil because they start lower.

  • July and August. The top of the range, no negotiating, beaches busy from mid-morning.
  • Early September, still peak-adjacent as Italian and Albanian holidays run on.
  • Mid-September onward, the reset. Rates soften, operators negotiate, and the September experience is considerably better than the price drop alone suggests.
  • October, reduced setups; many operators pack up through the month.
  • May and June, cheap and quiet, with water warming through.

Practical notes

  • Cash, in lek. Card acceptance on the sand is unreliable. Small notes are appreciated.
  • Confirm what the price covers, how many beds, whether the umbrella is included, and whether it is a fee or a minimum spend.
  • Umbrellas matter less here than in Ksamil, since Saranda's beaches have some backing structure and shade, but in August you still want one.
  • You are paying for the day. Leaving for lunch and returning is normal and expected.
  • The hill is the real cost. Saranda climbs steeply from the water; a cheap bed on a beach twenty minutes' walk below your room is a different proposition at 34°C.

FAQ

How much are sunbeds in Saranda?

Roughly 1,000-2,000 lek (about €9-17) for two loungers and an umbrella on the town beaches in peak season, dropping and becoming negotiable from mid-September. Beach clubs charge more, often through a minimum-spend model rather than a flat fee.

Is Saranda cheaper than Ksamil for sunbeds?

Yes, typically around half. Saranda's town beaches run about 1,000-2,000 lek in peak against Ksamil's 2,000-3,000. Ksamil's sand is much better, which is what the premium buys. The 100-lek bus between them means you can pay Ksamil's rate only on the days you want it.

Are there free beaches in Saranda?

Yes. There are public stretches between the concessions, particularly toward the northern end of town, and Manastiri cove has limited commercial setup. Before 09:00 and after about 17:00 most of the beach is not actively sold, so a towel costs nothing.

What does "free sunbeds with drinks" mean in Saranda?

It is a minimum-spend arrangement: the beds cost nothing provided you order enough food and drink. Good value if you were going to have lunch there anyway, and effectively a fee if you weren't. Always ask whether you are being quoted a flat fee or a minimum spend.

Are Saranda's beaches worth paying for?

Marginally. They are narrow, coarse and busy from mid-morning in summer. A 100-lek bus to Ksamil or a €30-50 boat trip to the road-inaccessible Krorez and Kakome coves both give far more back for the money than a day on a town beach.

The bottom line

Saranda sunbeds run about 1,000-2,000 lek in peak season and become negotiable from mid-September, cheap by Riviera standards, on beaches that are only ever adequate. Ask whether the quote is a fee or a minimum spend, use the free stretches early and late, and put the money you save into a boat day to the coves instead.
