Getting a tattoo in Himara is easy to arrange. The hard part is fitting it around the reason you came to Himara in the first place. The October row comes from our own Himara sea temperature data: the water still averages 22.4°C in October and 20.3°C in November. Late-season visitors lose less by skipping the sea, and they aren't nursing fresh ink through the hottest, brightest weeks of the year.
Fifty6 Tattoo Parlour: Himara's only studio
We checked Google Maps for tattoo studios across Himara, Dhermi, Vuno and Palasa on 26 September 2026. Every search in Albanian ("tatuazh") and in English returned the same single place: Fifty6 tattoo parlour, on the SH8 main road through central Himara. There's no studio in Dhermi or the villages. The Instagram artist whose TikTok videos are tagged #himare is based in Tirana, according to his own bio.

The split day is a typical Himara summer pattern: open in the morning, closed through the afternoon heat, open again late into the evening. It also fits a beach day nicely. Stop by after dinner, look at the flash or talk through a design, and book a slot. Earlier in the season the studio told Google it opened around midday. Hours shift with the season, so call or send a WhatsApp before you walk over, especially in shoulder months.
Reviews name the owner as Alex and mention a second artist, his cousin. One reviewer from this summer wrote that Alex "made time for me last minute". Another said the studio "accepted a walk in and did beautiful work." Neither mentions a price, and the studio doesn't publish one, so ask for a quote before the stencil goes on. No studio on this stretch of coast publishes a price list, so the only real numbers come from reviewers. All of these are from Saranda studios:

The French reviewer's comparison is worth noting. Small tattoos here aren't the bargain that Albanian restaurant prices might lead you to expect. Plan on €60–90 for a small, simple piece, confirm the price first, and don't haggle over line work you'll wear for life.

If Fifty6 is booked, you want something bigger, or you need a piercing, the closest alternatives are in Saranda (54 km, about 1h15 by road) and Vlora (75 km, about 2h). Aftercare in Himara, if you've already been inked
If you're reading this with fresh cling film on your arm, here's how to protect the tattoo without writing off the holiday:
- Stay out of the sea for at least two weeks. Salt water, the pebbles and a softened scab are a bad combination. A cool shower is fine; soaking is not.
- Cover up rather than using sunscreen on open skin. Wear a loose long sleeve or a sarong over the tattoo. Once the skin has closed over, switch to a mineral (zinc) sunscreen. Summer UV here reaches around 9 in June and July.

- Buy supplies in town. The pharmacies in Himara sell unscented moisturiser and gentle soap. Ask for farmaci on the main road.

A note on Albania's tattoo tradition
Albania has an older tattoo culture than the modern studios suggest. Ethnographers documented traditional tattooing mainly in northern Albania, practiced by both Catholic and Muslim communities, and especially by women. The designs were suns, stars, crescent moons and crosses, and girls were traditionally tattooed on 19 March, around the spring festival of Dita e Verës. It isn't a Himara tradition, but as a souvenir design it beats a generic flash sheet.
