Ask most Riviera guides — including, until today, ours — what happens on the Albanian coast in September and the answer is "nothing, and that's the point." Warm sea, thinning crowds, falling prices, no festivals. That answer is wrong, and it has been wrong for several years running. Jal Jam is a free two-day electronic festival that lands on Jale beach at the very end of the season, it is run by a Tirana collective rather than a promoter, and the 2026 edition is on this coming weekend.
It is also the least-documented festival on the coast. So here is the whole thing: every set time on both stages, which bar hosts which stage, what "free entry" actually means, and what to do about a bed at 48 hours' notice.

We pulled this from the organisers' own timetable, posted on 9 September, and checked every slot against the event's Resident Advisor listing on the same day. The two agree line for line. Thirteen acts, two stages, two days.

Read the shape rather than the names and the weekend makes sense. Friday is a single-stage warm-up that opens at a civilised 20:00 and runs until whenever Xhorxho stops. Saturday is a full day: eight hours of daytime sets on the sand from noon, a two-hour gap while the sun goes down, then a six-hour night programme with two live acts in it. Nothing overlaps. You are never choosing between stages, which for a festival this size is the right call.
Two of the thirteen sets are vinyl-only and two are live rather than DJ sets, which is unusual density for a free beach event and is the clearest signal of what this is: a curated end-of-season party by people who book for taste, not for numbers.

Two stages, two bars, one small cove
Jal Jam does not build a site. It borrows two existing venues on the same beach and runs the weekend between them, which is why the geography matters more than it would at a fenced festival.
Social Camping Jal hosts the Mainstage — the Friday night programme and the whole of Saturday night. It is a campground rather than a club: pastel timber bungalows stacked up the hillside, tent pitches, and a food yard, set back from the water among olive trees. This is where the late sets run and where most of the crowd sleeps.
Lemon at the Beach hosts Saturday's daytime beach stage, noon to 20:00, directly on the sand. Eight hours of house and vinyl at the water's edge with swimming in between is the part of the weekend most people underestimate, and it is the part that makes Jal Jam different from a two-night club booking.
The two are a short walk apart on the same cove. Nothing about this weekend requires a car once you are down the hill.
Worth being clear-eyed about scale: the organisers describe it as "an intimate capacity weekender by the sea," and Jale itself is a 300–400 m cove, not a beach that swallows crowds. This is not Kala, where 3,000 people take over Dhermi for a week. If you want a headline-name mega-lineup, this is the wrong weekend. If you want a few hundred people on a small beach at the end of a season, it is exactly right.
What "free entry" costs
There is no ticket and no door charge, and there was none at the third edition in September 2024 either — free entry is the festival's defining feature, not a first-year promotion. The money is made at the bar and the kitchen, which is the standard economics of a beach-club festival and is worth budgeting for honestly:
- Drinks and food at both venues are the real cost of the weekend. Riviera beach-bar prices, two days, late nights.
- Accommodation is the other real cost, and at this notice the on-site campground is the cheap end. Jale's camping generally starts around 13–14€ per person per night for a rented tent; bungalows sit above that.
- Getting there and back — a taxi from Himara after a 03:00 set is not a 200-lek journey.
Free entry on the Riviera almost always means "free door, paid bar." Plan on spending, just not on a ticket.
Getting to Jale for the festival
Jale sits 12 km north of Himara, down a steep switchbacked side road off the SH8 just past Vuno village. The drive from Himara centre is about 20 minutes.
By car or scooter is the practical answer for a night event. Parking is along the access road at the bottom, 200–300 ALL at the lots that charge, and on a festival weekend it will fill early — arrive well before the crowd, not at 19:45 on Friday.
By bus or furgon there is no direct service to the beach. Saranda–Himara–Vlora buses on the SH8 can drop you at the Jale turnoff, from where it is a 20–30 minute walk downhill. The honest advice for a late night: sleep at Jale, or arrange your ride home before the music starts. The walk back up that hill in the dark is not the plan you think it is.
Where to sleep, at 48 hours' notice
The on-site option is Social Camping Jal, which is running bungalows, tents and a food yard for the weekend and takes festival bookings through a form linked from the festival's Instagram profile. It is also the Mainstage, so "walk from the dancefloor to bed" is literal. That is the best plan available and it is the one filling fastest.
If the campground is gone, the fallback ladder is: guesthouses and apartments at Jale itself, then Vuno and Dhermi up the coast, then Himara as the comfortable base 20 minutes south with the most rooms and the most restaurants. September is shoulder season, so unlike a Kala week in June the wider coast is not sold out — this is a small festival on a big coastline.

How Jal Jam fits the Riviera's festival year
The Riviera's festival calendar has always been read as front-loaded: Kala opens the season on Dhermi beach in early June, South Outdoor follows at Borsh, the honey and heritage events fill July, and then the coast goes quiet. Jal Jam is the bookend nobody writes about — a closing party rather than an opening one, timed for the week the season ends and the sea is still at its warmest.
It is also the closest thing the Riviera has to a locally-run festival at this end of the coast. Bodrumiii is a Tirana collective built around promoting emerging Albanian DJs, and the bill reflects it: Albanian names from Saranda, Shkodra and Tirana alongside an Italian selector, playing to a few hundred people on a cove for nothing. That is a different proposition from a package-holiday festival, and worth knowing about before you write September off.

Practical notes for the weekend
- Cash and card both. Riviera beach bars are inconsistent about cards, and the nearest reliable ATM is in Himara, not at Jale.
- Water shoes. Jale is pebble, and you will be on it for eight hours on Saturday.
- Saturday is the bigger day. If you can only do one, Saturday gives you the beach stage, the night programme and both live acts. Friday is four sets.
- Swim between sets. The daytime stage runs beside water that is transparent to the seabed, and Aquarium beach is a 1.5 km walk around the southern headland if you want the hangover cure.

- Lineups move. This is a free festival run by a collective, not a ticketed event with contractual set times. Treat the timetable above as the published plan and check the organisers' channels on the day.
