Ksamil Prices 2026: Sunbeds, Beach Costs and What a Row Costs

Nobody warns you about this part. You arrive at Ksamil having read that Albania is cheap, walk onto the sand, and are quoted 3,000 lek for two loungers and an umbrella, around €26, which is a Greek-island price on a beach where the coffee costs a euro.

The number is real, and it is also not the only number available. Sunbed pricing in Ksamil varies by row, by operator, by month and by the hour of day, and the gap between the worst and best price on the same beach on the same afternoon is easily double. Here is how it actually works.

What you'll pay, by season

Period Two loungers + umbrella Haggling?
Peak (mid-July – late Aug) 2,000-3,000 ALL (~€17-26) None
Early July 1,500-2,500 ALL (~€13-21) Rarely
June 1,500-2,000 ALL Some, late in the day
Early September 2,000-3,000 ALL (holdover) Little
Mid–late September 1,500-2,000 ALL Yes, real leverage
May / October Lowest, where open Yes

The headline: a set costs roughly 1,500-3,000 lek depending on when you come and where you sit. The upper end is a front row in the middle of August; the lower end is a back row in the second half of September, when the same operators will negotiate rather than watch beds sit empty.

Why the price varies so much on one beach

Four things move the number, and knowing them is most of the saving.

1. The row. This is the biggest single factor. Front-row sets. The ones directly on the water with the uninterrupted view, are the most expensive everywhere in Ksamil, and operators sell them first. Second and third rows are noticeably cheaper for a view that is marginally worse. Back rows, against the bar or the road, are cheapest.

2. The operator. Ksamil's beach is divided between businesses, each setting its own price. Walking two hundred metres and asking again is free and frequently works.

3. The date. Peak August is the annual maximum. By mid-September the same bed on the same sand is often a third less.

4. The hour. Arrive at 16:00 and you are buying a partial day, which some operators price accordingly. Arrive at 09:00 in August and you are buying the last front row available, which they price accordingly too.

What's included, and what isn't

Usually included:

  • Two loungers and one umbrella between them
  • The right to leave your things there for the day
  • Use of the operator's toilets, where they have them

Usually not included:

  • Any food or drink. That is the entire business model
  • Towels
  • Any expectation of a refund if you leave after an hour

Some operators run a minimum-spend model instead of, or alongside, a flat fee: the beds are cheap or free provided you order enough food and drink. Whether this is better value depends entirely on whether you were going to have lunch there anyway. If you were, it is often the best deal on the beach. If you weren't, it is a fee with extra steps.

Ask which model you are being quoted before you sit down. "Free with drinks" and "3,000 lek" are the same beach economics arranged differently, and the confusion is where most bad experiences start.

Can you haggle?

Honestly: it depends on the month, and in peak season the answer is no.

In mid-July and August, operators sell out regardless of what you offer. There is no leverage in a negotiation where the other party has ten people behind you wanting the same bed. Trying costs you nothing but it very rarely works.

From about mid-September the position reverses completely. Beds sit empty, the season is ending, and operators would rather take 1,500 than nothing. The same is true in May and October wherever operators are still out. Late afternoon in any shoulder month is the strongest position you will ever be in.

Our September guide covers the wider shoulder-season economics; the short version is that everything on this beach gets cheaper at the same time.

How to sit for free

Entirely legitimate and widely done.

Bring a towel and use the free sand. Albanian beaches are not wholly privatised. Ksamil's beaches have public stretches between the concessions, and the free vs paid beaches guide explains where the line falls legally. In practice, the further from the central bays you walk, the more unclaimed sand there is.

Go early or late. Before 09:00 and after roughly 17:00, much of the beach is not actively sold, and nobody minds a towel.

Use the islets. The offshore islands are a 100-metre swim, and their small beaches and rocks are largely free.

Walk south. The coves toward Butrint have less infrastructure and correspondingly less commercial pressure. In peak season this is also where the space is.

How Ksamil compares

Ksamil is at the expensive end of the Albanian coast, which surprises people who came for cheap.

Where Typical peak set
Ksamil 2,000-3,000 ALL
Saranda town beaches ~1,000-2,000 ALL
Jale 800-1,500 ALL
Wider Riviera average Varies widely by beach

The premium is real, and it is paying for the best sand in the country on a beach with limited space. Whether that is worth double what Jale charges is a genuine question, and one worth asking before you commit to a week here rather than up the coast.

Practical notes

  • Cash, in lek. Card acceptance on the sand is patchy at best. Small notes help. Nobody wants to break 5,000.
  • Confirm the price and what it covers before sitting. Point at the specific beds. Prices differ by row and "that one" is a different quote from "one of those".
  • Umbrellas are the actual product in July and August. Ksamil's sand is white and reflective and there is no natural shade; a set without a working umbrella is not worth having at any price.
  • You are paying for the day, not the hour. If you take a set at 09:00, leave for a long lunch and come back at 16:00, your things and your beds are still yours.

FAQ

How much are sunbeds in Ksamil?

Roughly 1,500-3,000 lek (about €13-26) for two loungers and an umbrella, depending on season and row. Peak mid-July to late August sits at the top of that range with no negotiating room; mid-to-late September drops to around 1,500-2,000 with real haggling leverage.

Is Ksamil expensive?

By Albanian standards, yes; by Mediterranean beach standards, not really. The sunbed is the big cost, 1,500-3,000 lek a set in peak season, roughly €13-26, which is a Greek-island price. Food, coffee and the bus to Saranda (150-200 lek) stay cheap, so a beach day for two in August runs well above anywhere else on the Albanian coast mostly because of where you sit.

Can you haggle for sunbeds in Ksamil?

Not in peak season, operators sell out regardless. From mid-September onward, and in May and October, the position reverses and they will negotiate rather than leave beds empty. Late afternoon in a shoulder month is the strongest position you will get.

Are there free beaches in Ksamil?

Yes. Albanian beaches are not wholly privatised and there are public stretches between the concessions, particularly in the coves south toward Butrint. Before 09:00 and after about 17:00 much of the beach is not actively sold, and the offshore islets are largely free.

Is a sunbed in Ksamil worth the money?

In July and August the umbrella genuinely is. The sand is white and reflective with no natural shade, and a full day on it without cover is unpleasant. Whether the front row is worth double the back row is a different question, and usually no.

Why are Ksamil sunbeds more expensive than the rest of Albania?

Ksamil has the best sand in the country on a small amount of shoreline with very high demand, so prices sit above the coastal average, roughly double what a beach like Jale charges. Saranda's town beaches, 14 km north, typically run around 1,000-2,000 lek.

The bottom line

Expect 1,500-3,000 lek for a set in Ksamil, pay the upper end in August and the lower end in late September, and never take the first quote in a shoulder month. Skip the front row, ask whether you are being quoted a fee or a minimum spend, and remember that a towel on the public sand south of the centre costs nothing at all.
