What Vasiliqi Beach Is
Vasiliqi Beach is one of the quieter pebble coves on the southern Albanian Riviera, between Filikuri Beach and Porto Palermo Bay. It's mostly boat-accessible — overland tracks exist but are rough and unmarked, so most visitors who reach Vasiliqi arrive on a southbound coastline tour from Himara.
The beach is small, sheltered, and quiet. It doesn't have the dramatic cliff geometry of Filikuri or the historical density of Porto Palermo — what it offers is calm-water swimming without the tour crowds at the bigger stops.
Position
Approximate coordinates: 40.075°N, 19.78°E — about 10 km south of Himara by sea, between Filikuri and the Porto Palermo Bay opening. The southern coast from Himara to Porto Palermo runs through a sequence of pebble beaches:
Himara → Spile/Sfageio → Potami → Filikuri → Llamani → Vasiliqi → Porto Palermo Bay
Most coastline tours stop at 2–3 of these depending on time and operator.
What the Stop Is Like
Standard treatment on southbound coastline tours:
- 15–20 minute swim stop
- Boat anchors offshore; swim to shore optional
- Crystal-clear water, calm conditions
- No facilities, no shore landing infrastructure
- Far less busy than Filikuri or Porto Palermo
It's the kind of stop where the boat's pace is the main attraction — quiet swim, no tour congestion, then continue south to the bigger destinations.
When It's Worth Asking About
Vasiliqi is a bonus stop rather than a headline. If you're booking a southbound tour and want maximum swim time:
- Ask the operator whether Vasiliqi is included
- Ask whether it's swap-able with Krorez or Filikuri
- Some operators will customise small private charters to add it
For most travellers, the headline southern stops (Porto Palermo, Filikuri) are more memorable — Vasiliqi is the quiet bonus in between.
