Car Rental Saranda 2026: Prices by Month, Deposits & Scooters

Search car rental Saranda and the first number you meet is a headline rate of about €7 a day. Nobody pays that in August. The price of a rental car here moves more by month than by car class, the deposit can be zero or a four-figure card hold depending on who you rent from, and half the "rental" searches for this town are really about scooters, quads and boats in Ksamil. So before the cheapest rate, the useful question is which kind of renter you are and which month you land.

We read the two biggest price trackers for Saranda on 10 October 2026, checked every local firm named below against its Google Maps listing and its own website, and pulled the scooter, quad and boat prices from the operators' own pages. Everything that follows is dated, sourced, or left out.

What a rental car in Saranda costs, month by month

Two trackers publish monthly averages for Saranda and they disagree in an instructive way. DiscoverCars mostly lists international and larger local suppliers at the port. Localrent lists small local firms.

January €19 €27
February not given €25
March €19 €27
April €21 €28
May €23 €29

August €52 €30
September €32 €32
October €18 €27
November €25 €23
December €57 €24

Sources: DiscoverCars Saranda (updated 8 Oct 2026) and Localrent Saranda, both read 10 October 2026.

Our read of it: the aggregator price roughly triples between October and August, while the local-firm average barely moves. If you are renting in July or August, small local firms are where the saving is. If you are renting between October and May, the aggregator's port suppliers are usually cheaper. DiscoverCars' December figure of €57 looks like a holiday-week spike on a thin sample, so don't plan around it.

The cheapest individual offers DiscoverCars showed were a Fiat Panda at €7.34/day and an Opel Corsa at €7.87/day, both from Ecorent, for mid-October dates. Treat those as an off-season floor, not a summer price.

Where you pick the car up: port, town or Ksamil

DiscoverCars counts 19 rental locations at Saranda Port, 4 downtown and 3 that deliver to your hotel. Most desks sit on Rruga Mitat Hoxha, the street that runs past the ferry terminal, so collecting a car straight off the Corfu boat is easy. 4Drive Albania says it will meet renters at the port terminal, and Centrum lists the port as one of its two pick-up points.

Ksamil is the gap. We found no car-hire desk listed in Ksamil itself, and the searches for "car rental Ksamil" end up at Saranda firms. The fix is delivery: 4Drive delivers free within Saranda's town limits and Alba's Rental delivers within Saranda, so ask whether Ksamil, 14 km south, is included or costs extra. Otherwise take the Saranda to Ksamil bus back to town and collect there.

Gjirokastër has its own small market: Google Maps shows at least eight independent rental desks in the lower, modern town, and DiscoverCars has no Gjirokastër page at all. If you are basing yourself inland, book one of those directly. If you are doing Gjirokastër as a day from the coast, rent in Saranda.

One-way to Tirana is common and priced: DiscoverCars listed 304 Saranda-to-Tirana one-way offers from €25.54/day. If you are flying in, compare with renting at the airport using our Tirana Airport car rental guide.

Local car hire firms in Saranda we checked

Each firm below matched on name and address in its Google Maps listing, and the details come from its own site in October 2026. We list what they publish, not what reviewers claim.

Firm Where What it publishes What it doesn't
CENTRUM Rent a Car Sarandë Sheshi Nënë Tereza no. 2 List prices €35–50/day for small cars (Spark, Polo, Swift, Golf Plus), €60 Kia Sorento, €70 Jeep Renegade, €110 Jeep Wrangler cabriolet; free cancellation; pick-up in the centre or at the port Deposit, insurance terms, season

4Drive Albania Delivers in Saranda and to the port €22–75/day by class, about 15% off by the week, zero deposit, no credit card, full insurance with zero excess Ksamil delivery
Alba's Rental Mango Beach, Saranda Scooters from €13–15/day, cars from €20–25/day, ATVs from €45/day; no deposit on scooters; helmets free Exact per-model prices

The searches also turn up "Eagles" and "Jet Car" in Ksamil. Both are real, but neither rents cars. Eagles Rent a Boat Ksamil is a boat operator on the SH81 road, and Jetcar Ledio Ksamil rents "jet cars", the car-shaped jet boats you see buzzing around the Ksamil islands. Both are covered in the boat section below.

Deposits and credit cards

This is where Saranda rentals differ most. 4Drive states "no deposit hold is placed" and "no credit card is necessary", taking debit or cash at collection, and bundles zero-excess cover into its €22–75/day rates. Localrent says some of its Saranda cars rent without a deposit. The international brands at the port, booked through aggregators, generally want a credit card in the main driver's name for the hold.

If you have no credit card, Saranda is the easiest town on the coast to rent in. Our Albania car rental without a credit card guide has the deposit and excess figures supplier by supplier.

For licences: 4Drive requires an International Driving Permit from US, Canadian, Australian and most other non-European licence holders, and sets the minimum age at 21 (23 for larger SUVs and automatics), with a roughly €5–8/day surcharge under 25. Our international driving permit guide explains why getting one is the safe default.

Scooter, quad and bike rental in Saranda

Scooters make sense for the flat-ish run between Saranda and Ksamil and for beach-hopping south of town. They make less sense for the climb to Lëkurësi, the inland road to the Blue Eye or anything with luggage.

  • Price: Alba's Rental advertises scooters from €13–15/day and ATVs (quads) from €45/day, with "prices may vary during the season".
  • Deposit: Alba's says it takes no deposit for scooter rentals.
  • Licence: Alba's states that scooters up to 125cc can be ridden on a car licence (category B/B1). That is the operator's statement. Check that your own licence and your travel insurance agree before you ride.
  • Helmets: included free at Alba's. Wear it. The coast road has blind bends and heavy summer traffic.

Bicycle hire is thin in Saranda and we found no operator publishing bike prices, so we haven't listed any. For Himara, 53 km up the coast, see renting a car or scooter in Himara.

Boat, jet ski and kayak rental in Ksamil and Saranda

The Ksamil "rent a boat" searches are as big as the scooter ones, and the market is different: small operators on the Ksamil seafront and at the islands.

  • Self-drive boat: Rent Boat Ksamil (book-ksamil.com, office on Rruga Tafil Buzi) publishes €130 for a full day, "No driver license needed! No skipper needed." The price depends on the booking period, so confirm fuel and capacity when you book.
  • Islands shuttle: the same operator lists a 30-minute Ksamil islands run with drop-off and flexible pick-up at €20.
  • Eagles Rent a Boat Ksamil: a boat operator on the SH81 in Ksamil. It does not publish prices online.
  • Jet skis and jet cars: Jetcar Ledio rents at the Ksamil islands. Prices are quoted on the spot, usually per short session, so agree the time and the price before you start the engine.
  • Kayaks: offered by beach clubs and boat operators along the Ksamil front. Nobody we checked publishes a price.

Driving in and around Saranda

  • Parking is the daily cost nobody budgets. Localrent puts downtown Saranda parking at about 200 lek (€2) an hour, and Ksamil in August is worse: see our Ksamil parking guide.
  • Day trips are where a car pays off. Butrint, the Blue Eye and Gjirokastër are all awkward by bus. See Saranda to the Blue Eye and Saranda to Gjirokastër.
  • Corfu is not a day trip by rental car. 4Drive says its cars can't leave Albania without written permission, and most firms say the same. If you want a car on both sides, read the Corfu–Saranda ferry with a car first.
  • Taxis are the alternative for one-off trips: see our Saranda taxi guide for fares to Ksamil, Butrint and the airport.

Is renting a car in Saranda worth it?

For a week based in Saranda with two or more day trips, yes. Even at the €50/day summer aggregator average, one car for a couple costs less than two taxi return trips to the Blue Eye. For a short stay that is mostly Saranda town and Ksamil beaches, no. The bus to Ksamil costs 150–200 lek, and parking in Ksamil in August eats the time a car is meant to save.

FAQ

How much does car rental in Saranda cost?

It depends on the month more than the car. DiscoverCars' Saranda averages run from about €18/day in October to €50–52/day in July and August. Local firms are flatter: Localrent's averages stay between €23 and €33 all year, and Centrum's list prices for small cars are €35–50/day.

Can I rent a car in Saranda without a deposit or credit card?

Yes. 4Drive Albania states it places no deposit hold and needs no credit card, taking debit or cash at collection, with zero-excess cover included at €22–75/day. Localrent lists some Saranda cars without a deposit. International brands at the port usually want a credit-card hold.

Can I rent a car in Ksamil?

We found no car-hire desk in Ksamil itself. Most visitors rent in Saranda, 14 km north, and some Saranda firms deliver. 4Drive delivers free within Saranda's town limits and Alba's delivers in Saranda, so ask whether Ksamil is included before you book.

Do I need a licence to rent a scooter in Saranda?

Yes. Alba's Rental says scooters up to 125cc can be ridden on a car licence (category B/B1) and gives helmets free. That is the operator's statement, so check your own licence category and travel insurance before riding.

How much is boat rental in Ksamil?

Rent Boat Ksamil publishes €130 for a full day of self-drive boat hire, with no licence or skipper needed, and €20 for a 30-minute islands shuttle with drop-off. Jet ski and jet car prices at the islands are agreed on the spot.
