Per quale cucina è famosa Himara?
La cucina di Himara si ispira al Mar Ionio e alle radici greche della zona: pesce fresco e frutti di mare alla griglia o fritti, piatti di influenza greca come souvlaki, gyros e carne alla griglia, oltre ai classici albanesi e mediterranei. Lungo la costa troverai anche ottima pizza cotta a legna e napoletana e pasta all'italiana. La maggior parte dei menu segue il pescato della mattina.
Nei ristoranti di Himara si può pagare con carta o servono i contanti?
Porta i contanti. In Albania si usa soprattutto il lek (circa 100 ALL per 1 €) e molte taverne piccole, locali in spiaggia e caffè accettano solo contanti o li preferiscono, anche se i ristoranti più grandi e di fascia alta accettano sempre più spesso le carte. A Himara ci sono bancomat in paese, ma tieni con te abbastanza lek per un pasto. I POS possono andare offline quando cade il segnale.
Quanto costa un pasto a Himara?
Rispetto agli standard dell'Europa occidentale resta conveniente. Un pasto informale in taverna o una pizza costano circa 8–15 € a persona, mentre una cena di pesce fresco in un ristorante sul mare costa di più. Il pesce di solito si paga al chilo, quindi chiedi peso e prezzo prima di ordinare. Chi viaggia con un budget ridotto se la cava con circa 30–50 € al giorno tutto compreso; caffè e dolce costano un paio di euro.
Conviene prenotare il tavolo in anticipo?
Nella maggior parte delle taverne informali basta presentarsi. A luglio e agosto i locali sul mare più frequentati e meglio recensiti si riempiono all'ora di cena, quindi conviene prenotare il giorno prima o arrivare presto, prima delle 20 circa. Fuori dall'alta stagione raramente serve prenotare.

La concentrazione maggiore è lungo il lungomare del paese e sul fronte mare di Spile, dove taverne, pizzerie e caffè si susseguono uno accanto all'altro. Ci sono anche locali ben recensiti nel centro storico e sparsi verso sud, in direzione di Qeparo, lungo la strada costiera SH8.
