A counter built out of weathered boards on a deck at the bottom of the garden, roofed with reeds and shaded with sails. Olive trees, then the drop, then the Ionian.

How the night goes
The bar is the hostel's centre of gravity. It sits at the seaward edge of the garden, so the sun goes down straight in front of it and everybody drifts there for it. Bulbs strung along the beams, stools along the counter, benches and long tables on the gravel behind.
Back up the slope there is a stone courtyard under a timber pergola with armchairs in it, for when the deck is too bright or too loud.
The hostel is licensed for guests aged 18 to 40 and does not take children — the bar is a large part of why.

A short hike up to the walled village behind the town, timed to arrive as the light goes. Organised from the hostel.
The hike to Filikuri
About twenty minutes on foot over the headland to Filikuri, a cove with a sea cave at one end and no road in.
Day trips down the coast
The Blue Eye spring, Butrint's Roman ruins and the fortress at Porto Palermo are all bookable at reception.
