Hotels in Saranda: Best Saranda Hotels by Budget (2026)

Hotels in Saranda outnumber those in any other town on the southern Riviera, which is a planning complaint for eleven months of the year and the main reason to base here in August. It built relentlessly for a ten-week season, and the result is a market where you can almost always find something, at a price that swings by about 40% between June and September.

This is what a room actually costs across the year, the best-rated places by weight of review, and the one rule that matters more than any of it.

What a room costs, by month

Prices are for a decent central double. These are the bands this site has tracked across the season, not a quote for any one hotel.

Period Central double Notes
July ~€70-110 Sea view higher
August ~€90-130 Annual peak; Ferragosto fortnight worst
Early September ~€70-100 Peak holdover
Mid September ~€55-80 The reset
Late September under €50 Best value of the year
June ~€60-95 Rising through the month
October Lowest Some closures begin

For comparison, the equivalent central double in Ksamil runs roughly €100-150 at peak. Saranda is consistently the cheaper base, and the municipal bus, 150-200 lek and roughly hourly, puts Ksamil's beaches 20-30 minutes away.

The rule that beats every other consideration

Book low and flat, not high with a view.

Saranda is built up a steep amphitheatre of hillside. A cheaper room four blocks up is four blocks up, several times a day, at 32-34°C in August, carrying beach kit. It is the single most common booking mistake here and it is the one people regret.

A plainer room on or near the promenade beats a lovely one up the hill for almost everyone, and especially with children. Pay for the flat walk; the view is available for free from Lëkurësi Castle.

Best-rated hotels by weight of review

Google ratings and review counts as of September 2026. Review volume in Saranda's hotel market is much lower than in its restaurants, so treat a 5.0 from 150 reviews as promising rather than proven.

Litan (4.9), Lezet (4.8) and Hotel Lindi (4.8) are the strongest combination of score and volume. Meraviglia holds a perfect 5.0 but on 155 reviews, which is encouraging rather than conclusive.

Note that several large, prominent hotels, Piccolino, Saranda International, Toer, sit at 4.0-4.1 despite high visibility. Prominence and quality diverge here the same way they do on the beach bars.

Saranda hotels people search for by name

The hotels below get searched for by name more than any in the table above. We checked each on Google Maps in October 2026, confirmed it sits in Saranda, and recorded the score and star class on the listing. Distance is straight-line from the middle of the promenade; anything over about 1.5 km is on the coast road south toward Ksamil, where the resorts are.

Santa Quaranta Premium Resort in Saranda at night, a white multi-storey hotel lit up above a terrace with cherry-blossom style lights

Santa Quaranta Premium Resort is the hotel people search for most. It is a five-star resort on the coast road about 2.3 km south of the promenade, 4.4 from 1,412 reviews, and it suits a resort stay more than a town break. Bougainville Bay Resort nearby is also listed as five-star but scores 3.9 from nearly two thousand reviews. In town, Hotel Apollon (4.6 from 861), Demi Hotel (4.4 from 618) and Saranda Palace (4.4 from 444) are the big names in town, each about a kilometre from the middle of the promenade. Grand Hotel Saranda scores 3.9, lower than its name suggests.

For a beach hotel, the resorts on the road south have their own lidos; the hotels on the promenade face the town beach. Hostels are a real option here too: Lazy Roo Hostel held 4.6 from 124 reviews when we checked, a few minutes from the front, and is one of the Saranda hostels on Hostelworld, where you can check its availability. For self-catering, see Saranda apartments and Airbnb. Inland, Mesopotam Agrotourism Resort (4.3 from 152 reviews), about 9 km from town near the Mesopotam monastery, is the countryside alternative people search for.

Choosing by budget

Cheapest that is still good. Guesthouses and small hotels up the hill, or anywhere in late September and October. Accept the climb, or accept the season. This is where Saranda's supply advantage pays off, there is always something.

Mid-range, which is where the value is. €55-90 outside peak gets you a well-rated central hotel with air conditioning and a short flat walk to the promenade. Most of the 4.5+ list above sits here. In August the same room is €90-130.

The top end. Saranda's boutique tier, Meraviglia, Illyrian, Glow, Titania, is small and inexpensive by Mediterranean standards. If you want the nicest room in town, it costs less than a mid-range room in Greece.

When to spend more. On air conditioning, confirmed explicitly rather than assumed from a listing checkbox, August nights sit at 21-23°C. And on position, per the rule above.

Use the map rather than a list for this town specifically, because where a property sits on the hill is the thing a list cannot show you. Filter by position first, then by price.

Which area

Our best areas to stay in Saranda guide covers the neighbourhoods properly. The short version:

  • Central promenade, overwhelming in August, the best location once volume drops in September. Flat.
  • Southern end, toward Hotel Butrinti, quieter, slightly wider beach, still walkable.
  • Up the hill, cheaper, better views, and a daily climb. Weigh it honestly.
  • Near the bus station and port, worth it if you are day-tripping most days or catching an early Corfu ferry.

Booking notes

  • August needs booking ahead, particularly the Ferragosto fortnight around 15 August. Outside that, Saranda's supply means a week or two's notice is usually enough, and in September you can book three days out.
  • Confirm air conditioning in writing.
  • Check the actual walking distance to the promenade, not the listed one.
  • Ask about parking if you are driving. The town is dense and steep.
  • Saranda vs Ksamil, if beaches matter more than infrastructure, read the comparison before booking. For families, family hotels in Saranda covers the specifics.

FAQ

What are the best-rated hotels in Saranda?

By combined score and review volume, Litan Hotel (4.9 from 256), Lezet Hotel (4.8 from 503) and Hotel Lindi (4.8 from 397) lead. Meraviglia Boutique holds a 5.0 but on a smaller sample of 155 reviews. Ratings were checked in September 2026 and drift over time.

How much is a hotel in Saranda?

A decent central double runs about €90-130 in August, €70-110 in July, €55-80 by mid-September and under €50 late in that month. Saranda is consistently cheaper than Ksamil, where the same room is roughly €100-150 at peak.

Where should I stay in Saranda?

As low and as flat as possible, ideally near the promenade. The town climbs a steep hillside and every metre of elevation is one you re-climb several times a day in summer heat. A plainer room on the front beats a better one up the hill.

Do I need to book Saranda accommodation in advance?

For August, yes, especially the fortnight around 15 August. Outside peak, Saranda's large room supply means a week or two is usually enough, and in mid-to-late September booking a few days out is realistic.

Are there B&Bs and holiday apartments in Saranda?

Plenty. Much of Saranda's accommodation is in apartment blocks and family-run B&Bs rather than hotels, and many are let by the night through Booking.com, Airbnb and Vrbo. For a week or more, an apartment with a kitchen is usually better value; see Saranda apartments and Airbnb.

Is Saranda or Ksamil better value for accommodation?

Saranda, by roughly €30-40 a night at peak, because it has far more supply. Ksamil has much better beaches. The municipal bus between them takes 20-30 minutes for 150-200 lek, so basing in Saranda and travelling to Ksamil's sand is the cheaper combination.

The bottom line

Saranda's room supply means you will find something in any month. The question is where it sits on the hill, not whether it exists. Book flat and central, confirm the air conditioning, and use the map rather than a list so you can see the gradient. Litan, Lezet and Lindi are the best-rated places with enough reviews to trust, and late September is when the whole market halves.
