Getting to the olive grove

Pitches are not sold through booking sites. Call the family on +355 67 289 3807 before you set off, say whether you are bringing a tent or a van and for how many nights, and they will tell you what is free. In high summer, calling ahead is the safest way to get a place.

About 150 metres. Drymades Beach, the long white-pebble beach on the north side of Dhërmi, is a two-minute walk from the campsite gate, so you can leave the car under the olive trees for the whole stay and walk down to swim in the morning and again before dinner.

Only small ones. The gate and the lanes between the olive trees suit tents, cars and compact campervans of the VW or Vito size. Motorhomes longer than about seven metres will not get in, so a big rig is better off at a larger site and coming here for dinner instead.

Yes. The restaurant under the olive trees is open to everyone, not only to campers, and guests staying in the hotels along Drymades walk over for a meal. The cooking is home-style Albanian and Greek, with salads, grilled fish, squid, octopus, moussaka and stuffed peppers on the printed card.

It is a summer campsite. The season runs from mid-May to the start of October, and the campsite and the restaurant both close for the winter. Outside those months the gate is shut, so if you are travelling in the shoulder season, call +355 67 289 3807 before you drive over.

Toilets, showers, electricity for the pitches and Wi-Fi, plus the family restaurant a few steps from the pitches. Most of the ground sits under old olive trees, so there is shade for tents and vans through the hottest part of the day. It is a small, simple site rather than a holiday park.

The campsite sits on the Drymades side of Dhërmi, below the SH8 coast road, at plus code 5J38+7C Dhërmi. The entrance is narrow and easy to drive past, so set your navigation to the pin rather than to the beach and slow down as you get close.
