01The sign

A flame and two grill tools

The disc above the veranda carries a flame, a grill fork and a spatula crossed beneath the name, and one word for what goes on underneath it: traditional.

It is the only description the building makes of itself, and this site does not add another.

02The room

Brick, thatch and green chairs

A wall of bare terracotta brick, a fringe of dried thatch pinned along its head, rattan shades on the whitewashed rafters, and sage-green chairs at live-edge timber tables.

The glazing at the far end looks out over the covered veranda, where pale grey blinds pull down across the front.

03The table

Seafood, mostly

Spaghetti turned through prawns, cherry tomato and courgette. Squid rings and tentacles with whole prawns under lemon. Rice cooked orange with tomato, whole prawns through it.
