Finding it
The apartment has no street number. Its address is a landmark and a colour — the yellow house in the centre of Himarë, standing opposite the kindergarten. Once you are in the town it is easier to find than most places that do have a number.

Three ways in
Himarë sits halfway down the Albanian Riviera on the SH8, between the Llogara pass and Sarandë. However you arrive, the last stretch is the same coast road.
From Tirana
Tirana International is the practical arrival airport for the Albanian Riviera. The drive south runs the SH8 coast road over the Llogara pass — about 215 kilometres and roughly four hours, and one of the better roads in Europe for the last hour of it.
From Sarandë and the Corfu ferry
Sarandë is 56 kilometres south, about an hour and twenty minutes up the same coast road. The ferry from Corfu lands there, which makes the island a real alternative to flying into Tirana.
By bus
The coast-road services between Sarandë and the north stop in Himarë town rather than at a terminal, and the nearest stop is eighty-seven metres from the door — closer than the beach. Arriving without a car is entirely workable here, which is not true of most of this coast.
The door
Head for the centre of town rather than the seafront. The kindergarten is the landmark; the apartment building stands opposite it, cream-yellow, two storeys of balconies and a roof terrace over a row of shops.
