A cocktail bar on the seafront street at Spile, lit almost entirely by things you can look straight at — the red tube over the counter, the counter front itself, and whatever is glowing on the table.
Pipes arrive lit and stand among the glasses rather than off to one side. Inside there are rope-backed chairs at timber tables under a slatted canopy; outside there is a terrace of cushioned sofas and woven furniture around low glass-topped tables.

Lit from inside
A red neon tube over the bar, a fluted counter front glowing amber along its whole length, and a woven pendant under a timber slat ceiling. Almost every light in the room is a light you can look straight at, rather than one pointed at you.

Cocktails and shisha, at the same table
Pipes come to the table with their bases lit — blue, green, red — and stand among the glasses rather than off to one side. Indoors under the canopy or outside on the terrace, it is the same arrangement.

A bar that also runs a kitchen
Behind the counter: a spirits wall, a rack of syrups, an espresso machine and a plate of cut fruit. Plates come out as well as glasses.

Behind the counter, past the spirits wall and the rack of syrups, sit an espresso machine and a plate of cut fruit. Plates come out across the day as well as drinks.
