Waffles & ice cream

That is what the shop puts over its own door. A cabinet of scooped gelato stands out on the pavement, a swirl comes off the machine onto a wafer cone, and the chilled case inside holds the cakes and the pastries.

Its own words

The shop writes its name on four signs, and spells it three different ways.

Over the door, on the lit cone beside it, on the board standing at the pavement and across the counter inside. Everything this site says about what is sold here is taken off one of those four, or off a photograph of the counter itself.

The cabinet, on the pavement

A swirl and a cup, carried out

Two ways it comes.

The cabinet stands out on the pavement, curved glass over the pans, pale blue tags standing in them and a few of those written on by hand. The swirl comes off the machine. Take either out to the pavement, or up the road with you.

At the counter

Inside

Dessert & cake, as the board has it.

Behind the glass indoors: whole cakes, a slice already cut on its plate, small pastries, and trays of little desserts in foil cups. It is the one line on the pavement board that has nothing to do with ice cream, and the case is where it is kept.

Getting there

On the main road through Spile.

SH8, Spile — the seafront end of Himarë, in the run of cafés and shops along the through road. There is a second Iceland Gelato further along the coast at Potami; this is the one in Spile, a short walk up from the town beach. The guide rounds up the town's other dessert and gelato counters.
