Reaching Himarë

Himarë sits on the SH8, the coastal road that runs the length of the Albanian Riviera. The usual approach is to fly into Tirana International Airport and travel south: four to five hours by car or by bus, over the Llogara Pass. Buses and furgons run daily from Tirana, and the coastal services stop in Himarë town.

Vlorë International Airport has no scheduled passenger service, so it is not a route to plan a journey around.

Once you are here the town is walkable, and wheels only matter for the coast beyond it — scooters, taxis and the seasonal boat taxis each have their going rate.

Arriving at the door

Rruga 25 Marsi runs down to the seafront through Lagja Spile. The building is painted red and the hotel's name is lettered vertically down the street corner; the entrance is above the ground-floor shops. Parking is on the street outside, and there is public parking nearby which has to be reserved and is charged by the day.

Fifty metres the other way is Spille, the town beach, and three of Himarë’s kitchens stand within a hundred metres of the corner.

Check-in runs from 14:00 – 22:00 and check-out from 09:30 – 10:30 — a one-hour window, so it is worth setting an alarm.
