Welcome

A camp in an olive grove, a short walk from the sea

Aquariumi is a small camping site behind Jalë beach. A lane runs down the middle of the grove with our caravans parked along it, each with its own parasol, table and chairs, and between them there is room for tents and for your van. The camp has a barbecue zone and a bar, and in the evening the lights come on in the trees.

Come with nothing and take a caravan, or bring the camper and park it in the shade. The sand is five minutes away on foot.

Questions

How far is Aquariumi from Jalë beach?

Aquariumi is in an olive grove about 300 metres from the sand at Jalë beach in Himarë, a walk of around five minutes downhill. Aquarium Bay is about 800 metres away in a straight line over the headland, and Livadh beach about 1.5 kilometres further round the coast.

Can I stay at Aquariumi without bringing a tent?

Yes. Aquariumi rents old touring caravans that stay parked under the olive trees, with two single beds or a double inside and air conditioning in some. Each has a parasol, a table and chairs outside the door. Tents are available as well, and you can bring your own van or camper.

Can I bring my campervan or camper to Aquariumi?

Yes. Aquariumi is a camping site for campers as well as caravans and tents. Vans and campers park on the grove floor under the olive trees and share the shower block, the outdoor kitchen and the barbecue zone with everyone else. Send the camp your dates and the size of your vehicle first.

What is shared at Aquariumi?

The showers and toilets are in one shared block with washbasins outside it, and there is a covered outdoor kitchen with a fridge, a gas hob and a sink. The camp also has a barbecue zone and a bar, Wi-Fi in the shared areas, shade sails between the trees and a rope swing for children.

How do I book a caravan or a pitch at Aquariumi?

Book directly with the camp. Text or call +355 69 299 8407, or call +355 68 948 3038, with your dates and the number of guests; the Book now bar on this site writes the text message for you. Both numbers are on the camp's Instagram profile, @aquariumijale_camping.

Are children and pets welcome at Aquariumi?

Yes. Children of all ages are welcome, and there is a rope swing hanging from one of the olive trees in the lane. Pets are welcome too. Mention your pet, and the ages of any children, when you send the camp your dates, so the reply covers everything you need to know before you arrive.

How do I get to Aquariumi from Himarë?

Drive north from Himarë on the SH8 coast road towards Dhërmi and take the Jalë turn-off near Vuno. A paved side road winds down towards the bay, and the camp is in the olive grove above the beach. It is about 13 kilometres and 25 to 30 minutes by car from the Himarë promenade.

Is Aquariumi the same place as Camping Aquarium?

No. Aquariumi, also called Aquariumi Jale Camping, is the caravan and tent camp in the olive grove above Jalë beach. Camping Aquarium is a separate tent camp about 850 metres away on the rocks above Aquarium Bay, with its own owners and its own phone number.
