The counter runs along a split-stone wall, with the bottles on pine shelves above and below the owner’s painted board. Novelty licence plates for Tokyo, Brazil, Peru, Mexico and Medellín are nailed up beside them.

There is a second counter outside under a boarded timber roof, open on the bay side, with the stemware hung from a rail overhead. The drink and the view are the same thing.

The garden
