Spile Beach · Himarë
The room

The whole room in one frame: three openings, the beams, the bath and the bed.
Three openings, rubble limestone walls, a beamed ceiling and a bath standing free on its dais. The sea is in the room before anything else is.
01 — The openings
Cut through the wall, not set in it.
The windows and the balcony door are driven straight through the rubble, so each one carries a deep stone reveal and a squared timber frame. Two of the three face the water and one faces the green behind, so the sea arrives from two directions at once.

02 — The floor
Pale oak, then plaster, then stone.
Wide pale planks run the length of the room and stop at a poured plaster dais the colour of the walls. A kerb of undressed stone draws the join as a slow curve rather than a straight line, and the bath stands inside it.
